Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all of you in advance!
i hope that the past weekend had been one that is filled with love for all of you. As we welcome 2022, it is good for us to slow down and reflect on the year that has passed.
What were the lowlights of the year? What challenges and obstacles you encountered this year? In what ways have you grown through these challenges? What were the highlights of the year? What has God blessed you with? What is God inviting you to do, or be in the coming year?
Take some time to reflect and write them down. It would be a good reminder in the coming year to look back at where we were, and where we are heading.
We begin this year with a new sermon series – “Home is the Way.” Not long after Jesus was born, Mary and Joseph had to flee with him to Egypt because Herod sought to kill him. Jesus grew up as a refugee, a stranger in a foreign land. Yet, was he homeless? What is home?
“Welcome Home” is our tagline. What does it mean?
Home, where we begin our journeys, and where we return to, where we find sanctuary, rest, heal and feel safe, learn and grow.
As we begin the new year, this new sermon series charts the way for a season of beginnings. The 2 years of restrictions have affected the way we live out our spirituality, the way we are community.
We have to find ways to intentionally reconnect and be church in a time of uncertainty – going back to revisit the foundational principles, values and ideas that will help us align ourselves with God’s will and live out our faith. We have a lot of new folks who joined us in this season – and we want to create culture – an FCC culture and explain clearly what we mean when we say certain things – how does not being judgemental look like, how inclusivity doesn’t mean everything goes.
Join us this Sunday – and Welcome Home!
Shalom,
miak
