Have you often wondered why your relationships or the relationships of those around you don’t seem to be working out? Are you aware of the ways our identity formation influences our relationships? We often hear this: LGBT relationships do not last. LGBT folks are broken people. LGBT folks have issues. Looking at ourselves and those around us, it seems to be true.
In a series of workshops inspired by Kintsugi, we will be exploring how we develop spiritually and psychologically as LGBT folks, and how this often affects how we relate to others emotionally, romantic or otherwise, and how we can find ways to embrace ourselves and our brokenness fully.
Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken ceramics with lacquer mixed with gold. The philosophy behind the technique is to recognize the history of the object and to visibly incorporate the repair into the new piece instead of disguising the cracks. The result is usually something more beautiful than the original.
God is making us all into something more beautiful. Are you ready to embrace your brokenness and true identity fully?
