Dear friends,
Like many characters in the Gospels, we may have very powerful and transformative encounters with Jesus. These experiences come in diverse ways – and sometimes, we didn’t even realise what that encounter was until we reflected on them years down the road.
In the Gospels (actually the whole Bible!), Jesus had the longest recorded conversation with the Samartian woman by the well. It is one of my favourite passages. Yet, like our personal encounters, we too often focus on the encounter and lose sight of what happens thereafter, and in doing so we end up trying to recreate that encounter instead of living out the transformation that the encounter with Jesus began. How do we live a resurrected life? By living out the resurrection – leaving behind the old life and living out the new. Join me as we explore this through the Samaritan woman this Sunday!
Speaking of living out a resurrected life, FCC has a T-mart project where we periodically donate food to the T-Project for shelter residents and transgender elderly. We are having another drive for the month of May and we hope you can participate in it. Find out more how you can be part of this project at fcc.la/t-mart!
Shalom,
miak
