Dear friends,
We kicked off our sermon series “Wholeheartedly” last Sunday.
At FCC, we always say, “You are God’s beloved.” We say it not without basis – because that’s how we understand Jesus’ teachings. What we have been trying to do here at FCC is to help everyone realise that they are equal – equally beloved by God, equally worthy of belonging and love – “Worthy now. Not if, not when, we’re worthy of love and belonging now. Right this minute. As is.” Just like how God sees us.
We hope that we can all “walk together as community towards growth and wholeness in Christ” – the vision that we shared for this year. We want to be wholehearted people – people who are not afraid of being vulnerable, knowing the God has our back, and God loves us like the parent in the parable of the prodigal. When we become wholehearted, then we are able to love God wholeheartedly, love ourselves wholeheartedly, love other people wholeheartedly. We would be secured in our worthiness, and no longer seeking out unhelpful things to feel worthy.
This Sunday, Yan Mei, who is currently in seminary in Hong Kong, will be preaching on Joseph’s story in Genesis, bringing us on a journey reflecting on how we can find reconciliation with our past.
Shalom,
miak
