Dear friends,As missiles rain down on people in the Middle East – we pray for peace.
The war in Ukraine is in its 1211th day.
When, like the Prophet Isaiah proclaimed, will we learn war no more?
When will we beat swords to ploughshares, spears to pruning hooks?
Not soon. As long as this cycle of violence and vengeance continues, we will not get anywhere.
Jesus said, “Put your sword back in its place, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword.”
The kin-dom of God didn’t come through violence and power, but through love and sacrifice.
May we continue following the Prince of Peace – in word, in deed – and learn the ways to resist violence so we may be closer to the day where the wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead us.
