Dear friends,
This Sunday, i am building on the sermon this past Sunday “Another Way.” To me, the sermon on the plain from the Gospel according to Luke (Luke 6:20-49), together with the sermon on the mount from the Gospel according to Matthew (Matthew 5,6, 7) are the basis of Jesus’ vision – God’s vision – for the world – the Kin-dom of God.
It is the foundation for what i believe how the world should be ordered – not because i am woke, not because i am progressive, not because i am socialist, not because of my political position or views, but because this is how i understood Jesus’ teachings, and this how we follow Jesus.
It pains me to see so often Christians calling ideas “woke” when these ideas are actually at the heart of Jesus’ teachings. So much of Jesus’ critique of wealth and power erased because there is a lot to lose – but are we not asked to take up our crosses to follow?
