It is Ash Wednesday today and it feels very different from the Ash Wednesdays we have observed before.
As measures are taken to deal with the spread of the COVID-19 virus, we are reminded of how unpredictable life can be.
So we begin Lent – a season of reflection, repentance and fasting – by slowing down. Are there things that God is prompting us to do? Are there things that God is inviting us to let go of? What is God speaking to you in this Lent to prepare you for the coming of Easter?
We are starting a Whatsapp chatgroup to do daily reflections based on Richard Rohr’s Wondrous Encounters: Scripture for Lent. Those of you who would like to join this Whatsapp group, please write to (info@freecomchurch.org) with your mobile number.
As the sun sets, as the day comes to and end, slow down, take a deep breath and meditate upon the words spoken as ashes are applied to one’s forehead during Ash Wednesday – “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”
Shalom,
