Dear FCC family,
Last Sunday, Pauline kicked start our new sermon series “Everyone” talking about gratitude.
She started off saying “I want to begin this morning by being very upfront with you. The objective of today’s sermon is not to guilt trip you into feeling more grateful.”
This Sunday, I will be sharing about giving of ourselves as an outflowing of gratitude – the kind of gratitude that is not what Pauline shared in her sermon – what Diana Butler-Bass described as “cheap gratitude – the kind that is transactional, but rather the gratitude that is a spiritual awareness and social structure of gift and response.
I will be sharing on how gratitude leads us to respond by giving of ourselves – and how giving of ourselves look like in action. Jesus said
in Mark 17 “Give to God the things that are God’s.” What are things that are God’s? And how do we give to God these “things”?
The FCC Chinese ministry will have a session after church on Sunday from 1.30pm to 4pm on the teachings of Jesus in Mandarin led by Benny.
I look forward to seeing you all this Sunday.
Shalom,
miak
