From the Pastor’s Desk,
Jaime described her spiritual dry spell in her sermon last Sunday – something that i think many of us are experiencing. It is like a plateau, a season of emptiness, and some may even describe it as “the dark night of the soul.” It is troubling for some of us, challenging for others, and yet for some, this situation pushes us to seek out God even more, even if we find nothing.
i, too, fell into the routine of the same – i won’t describe it as a dark night though. It was more of the usual business and busyness for me. My trip to join Rev Elder Darlene Garner to go visit the MCC churches in Philippines and conduct some workshops for the leaders there was really helpful in waking me up from a light slumber.
This Sunday, i would be starting a 2 part sermon about waking up, about finding who we are called to be, and weaving together what we have known all along, but never knew how the pieces fit.
i look forward to seeing all of you in church on Sunday.
