Dear friends,
Over this past mid-autumn festival weekend, Yanmei, Jaime, Julia, Cynthia, Meiyi and I had the joy and privilege of speaking at and serving alongside our siblings from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan to run a women’s retreat for female-identified as well as gender queer friends and fellow believers from various parts of China. Altogether, we had more than 50 people gather together to worship and learn from one another, and the deep, authentic and healing conversations we had over those 3 days was more than we could ask for or imagine.
I saw God move in amazing ways in many lives, including mine, and I look forward to sharing some of these stories with you this Sunday. My experience there also gave me insights into our life as a faith community here in Singapore and I am truly thankful for all God has been teaching me.
This Sunday, we will be having a special worship service where we will be opening service with the Taizé style of worship. For those of you who attended our church retreat in June, you will be familiar with this. Taizé music highlights simple phrases, usually lines from the Psalms or other pieces of scripture, that are repeated or sung in canon. The repetition is designed to help meditation and prayer. Taizé worship is a style of prayer that is highly meditative. Singing and silence play a large part, and are at the heart of the Taizé experience. If you want to find out more, you may refer to: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taiz%C3%A9_Community
If you have not experienced Taizé before, do join us this Sunday with an open heart and mind, and you might be surprised by an encounter with God. Looking forward to worshipping together with you this Sunday!
Shalom,
Pauline
