Dear friends,
These two Sundays, we are doing a two-parter based on the concept and metaphor of Kintsugi, which is the Japanese art of repairing something that has been broken with lacquer and gold, with the understanding that the object is more beautiful and valuable because it was once broken. Kintsugi has helped our faith community imagine differently about God, ourselves and our journeys, and it really speaks to the restorative redemptive process of the gospel.
I want to say a big thank you to Desmond, Geoffrey and Daniel for helping to organise the Kintsugi hands-on workshops as part of our ACE events. The experience of doing Kintsugi has been enlightening and enriching, and you can read the participants’ sharing on the Reflection Wall along the entrance corridor. And for these two Sundays, Desmond’s nieces have very kindly lent us their Kintsugi bowls so we can use them for Communion. So, as you partake of Communion, please take a moment to hold those bowls and appreciate the work of restoration and creation that God is doing in you.
This Sunday, we will be exploring what it means to be Wounded Healers as we consider how God is making us whole in and through our lives, our relationships, and our service to the world.
Come join us!
Shalom
Pauline
