Dear friends,
Hope you are having a blessed start to the new year!
Last Sunday, I asked what would anchor us as we begin a new year with new hopes, goals and resolutions, and I shared how I found my anchor in our lectionary passage for that day — John 1:1-18.
In the beginning was the Word,
And the Word was with God,
And the Word was God.
Jesus, the Logos, was there at the beginning of creation and Jesus was the structuring reality of all things. Jesus, the Word, is the source of life, which is the light of all people. And we, the children of God, get to plug into this inextinguishable light, and carry this light into the world, into the places that seem overwhelmed by darkness.
My prayer is that we will have new eyes to see Jesus daily — the Word made flesh, the Christ who is with us in prayer, in church, in our friends, in the stranger, and with all in creation.
Shalom,
Pauline
