Dear FCC family,
Last week during my Spiritual Formation class in seminary, we were invited to write our own version of the Lord’s Prayer. I had never thought of writing my own version of the Lord’s Prayer but it was such a beautiful and moving practice as my classmates and I listened to one another read out our versions of the Lord’s Prayer. I wonder what would your version of the Lord’s Prayer sound like?
Here is my version of the Lord’s Prayer that I shared during prayer at FCC last Sunday:
Holy God who is Love,
You are who we want to know and be known by truly.
May we be aligned with your Spirit
as you help us embody love and compassion in this world.
May your love bring healing to broken people, systems and relationships
towards the restoration of Shalom.
Give us what we need this day to be our true selves
and love others so they can do the same.
Help us to forgive ourselves and others,
as we learn to let go of shame and resentment.
Lead us that we may not add to the harm or oppression of others.
Help us instead lead the way to freedom, just as you have freed us.
May your joy, hope, love and justice be our anthem
now and forevermore.
Amen.
Shalom,
Pauline
