Dear siblings,
This year has seen many changes and challenges, and I wonder what your experience with God and this faith community has been like. Has God used this time to draw you closer and helped you grow, in spite of, or perhaps in the midst of the challenges?
I have had the opportunity to speak and pray with various ones in our community, and I am so heartened to see how God is moving amongst us. Miak and I are consolidating stories from our members and congregants for the FCC anniversary service on 11 October 2020. If you have a story to share that you think might be encouraging to our fellow siblings during this period, would you write to me at info@freecomchurch.org?
Recently, someone asked me what keeps me going in ministry, especially when things get hard. As I reflected, I told them it’s the reminder of God’s calling on my life and the strength of community. I know without God and the commitment of people around me, I wouldn’t be able to keep doing what I am called to do, and to keep growing into the person God created me to be.
What’s the value of community to you? Is God leading you to commit to this church and faith community as a member? As we approach baptism and membership Sunday on 11 October, I wanted to warmly invite you to prayerfully consider if membership is the next step for you. And for those of us who are already members, let 11 October be a time we renew our commitment to God and one another.
This Sunday, we continue on our Encountering God series with Jacob’s wrestling with God and see how that relates to issues we might face today.
Shalom,
Pauline
