Dear friends,
As I shared last week, I’m very excited that we’re kickstarting our new series on the book of Genesis. And I’m grateful for the wonderful preamble that Gary gave us in his amazing sermon last Sunday. This series will last for 16 weeks, and we will be covering the wide span of diverse stories of the men, women, families across generations, and their varied encounters with the God who created us and the world.
My hope is that this series will give you new insights into who God is, and how God loves right from the beginning of time. And with these insights, my prayer is that your mind, heart, and faith will grow and expand as we put into action the things we are learning and discovering.
This Sunday, I want to give you a broad understanding of Genesis, its context and what it’s trying to convey to us across time and space. Then we’ll dive more deeply into Genesis 2, and discover what it means to be made in God’s image (Tselem Elohim in Hebrew or imago Dei in Latin) for both women and men, and how terms such as Adam or ezer kenegdo may not be what you thought they were.
I hope you’re excited too, and I look forward to seeing you this Sunday as we kick off this new series.
