Dear friends,
As we continue in this season of Eastertide, it’s important for us to remind ourselves and one another that love is truly more powerful than death or hate. And Christ rising is an everlasting testament to that truth!
Resurrection is a way of living that God calls us to, especially in these times of warmongering, violence and the abuse of power. As I was preparing the sermon for this week, I was reminded of this old song:
Stir my heart, O Lord, let your holy fire burn;
spark a flame within me, strengthen my desire.
May my heart, O Lord, be so tender in your hand;
breathe your life within me, stir my heart O Lord.
I find myself humming this song throughout the week, like a quiet prayer rising within me. I think about the disciples on their way to Emmaus and how Jesus’ gentle presence and words stirred something in their hearts even though they didn’t recognise him at first. It is a tender resurrection, a slow rekindling, a faith that is growing but not fully formed yet.
Perhaps this is what we all need in our current times. So come join us as we sit with and experience that slow rekindling of a tender resurrection in all our hearts. Looking forward to seeing you this Sunday!
