Dear friends,
The Japanese have a beautiful word called yoyū. Yoyū means spaciousness, and it’s about having margin in our lives – space in our hearts, minds, and souls. It’s about not rushing from one thing to the next, or living constantly on the edge of exhaustion. But having enough space internally that you can respond to life, God and other people with presence and compassion.
And I think that’s what many of us are missing and perhaps longing for at this time. Because life can feel very full at times. Our schedules are full, our minds are full. Our hearts might feel heavy from all the responsibilities, expectations, uncertainties and anxieties that we carry.
Perhaps what God is inviting us to do during this season of Lent is not to do more, but to make space. To make space for God to dwell more deeply within us. To make room for love to take root and hope to grow.
Come join us this Sunday as we explore what it means to cultivate spaciousness in our lives so God can dwell more deeply, and we can make room for hope to take firmer root in our lives. Looking forward to seeing you this Sunday!
Shalom,
Pauline
