Dear friends,
As war and violence loom around us, I wonder how you are doing. Perhaps it is no coincidence that we are in the season of Lent, a time meant for deep reflection and spiritual renewal. Can hope still take root even in times like these? And what are we really thirsty for?
Our readings this week invite us to look beneath our surface cravings and name the deeper ache within us — the longing to be safe, seen and loved. This Sunday, we will reflect on the difference between the “micro-sips” of validation and achievement that leave us restless, and the living water of God’s grace that truly satisfies. In this season of Lent, we are invited not just to notice our thirst, but to drink deeply from a hope already poured into our hearts, and to become wells of refreshment for others.
One way we can be wells of refreshment is to be trained and equipped to stand in solidarity with those who might need it. On 22 March, we are hosting a Sexual Assault First Responder Training conducted by AWARE.
AWARE usually charges a $35 fee per participant, but FCC will be subsidising part of the costs so we will be charging $10 per participant. We hope that cost would not deter anyone from taking part, so do let us know if you need further financial support. There are 35 places for this training, so sign up early at http://fcc.li/SAFRT
Come join us for worship and fellowship this Sunday as we reflect on what it means to drink deeply from the hope God has in store for us.
Shalom,
Pauline
