Dear friends,
We often say one of FCC’s key values is that we are inclusive. At least, that’s what we aspire towards as a faith community. But do you know the reason why we are inclusive is not because it is trendy or due to the influence of contemporary culture? In fact, the reason why it’s so important we are inclusive finds its basis in the very first book of the Bible. In Genesis 1:27, we read:
So God created humans in God’s image,
in the divine image God created them;
male and female God created them.
Every human being, without exception, carries the divine imprint. Theologians call this the imago Dei — the image of God. We are ALL made in the image of God, and this is why every person is beloved and cherished. But I would admit that it’s not always easy to practice inclusiveness well. People will disagree. People will bring their messy, complicated lives into the mix. How can we practice inclusiveness in healthy ways so that all can thrive and grow together?
Come join us for service this Sunday as we seek to love and grow in the likeness of Christ.
Shalom,
Pauline
