Dear friends,
I recently had the opportunity to attend the PANAAWTM (Pacific, Asian, and North American Asian Women in Theology and Ministry) Annual Conference in San Diego, California. I was awestruck to be among esteemed theologians that I had only encountered in books and journal articles until this moment. And I was encouraged to see the number of Asian women from diverse countries coming together in such a powerful way. It was inspiring and life-giving being around such amazing mentors and siblings!
I hope as we come together as the FCC community, you will also find inspiration and encouragement being in fellowship with one another. We have exciting activities lined up in the coming months, and I urge you to consider how you might like to get involved.
1. At the end of this month, Rev Ouyang will be conducting a bilingual session “Reading the Bible Requires Using Our Brains” on Friday, 31 March at 7pm.
2. We are co-hosting an interfaith Iftar (a Muslim breaking of fast during Ramadan) with Quasa, a Singapore-based LGBTQ+ Muslim support & advocacy organisation on Saturday, 1st April from 6-8pm. You can sign up at https://fcc.li/interfaithiftar
3.Following that, on 2nd April, we are having an immersive worship for our ACE (After Church Event) after the Palm Sunday Service from 1-2pm.
4. For Holy Week, we will be having the Maundy Thursday service at 7.30pm on 6th April, and the Good Friday service at 10.30am on 7th April. The Maundy Thursday service is an experiential service commemorating the last supper and Jesus washing the feet of the disciples. So it would only be in-person. The Good Friday service would be hybrid like our Sunday services.
5. That will bring us to the Easter Sunday service on 9th April. We would be conducting baptism and inducting new members into FCC during that service. For those who are interested in getting baptised and / or becoming a member of FCC, please sign up at https://fcc.li/baptism by Friday 24 March.
6. Finally, the registration for our retreat in Batam from 2-4 June is up! You can sign up at https://fcc.li/church-retreat
I look forward to your participation, and I am excited about all we will get to experience together!
Shalom,
Pauline
