Dear friends,
In slightly over a week’s time on 8th of September, we would be having our extraordinary general meeting (EOGM) to chart our future together. For those of you who are registered members of FCC, you should have received an email from Gary, the chairperson of our board, together with a summary and FAQ of the rationale and details for this proposal.
On 6th of October, we are celebrating our 16th anniversary and our theme for the service is “Pilgrimage to Common Wealth.” Looking back, it has been a pilgrimage of faith, miracles and grace.
Some of you may feel anxious about the uncertainties we face – the state of the world we live in, the future of FCC, or your personal life in particular. It is times like this that we tell the stories – stories of how God showed up, how God moved with us as a pillar of cloud by day, and a pillar of fire by night, and of how God continues to abide in us and us in God.
i would like to invite all of you to enter into a time of prayer and discernment – whether you are able to vote at the EOGM or not, as this is not only about making a decision about 1 Commonwealth, but also about who God called us to be, and how we see our future as a faith community. May we learn to have faith and discern as a community in love, in truth and in justice.
Shalom,
miak
